YHWH's Calendar
The Gregorian, Greek, Babylonian, Egyptian calendars all include special celebration days (holidays like easter) to honor pagan gods and goddesses. YHWH’s calendar only has His seven Holy Days (Feast Days), of which Passover is one. Passover is actually the first of the seven, occurring on the 15th day of the first month of the year on YHWH’s calendar. This is determined according to scripture as the first New (renewed) Moon (the smallest sliver in its cycle) as seen from Jerusalem, after it is not visible at all (because it is completely covered in the Earth’s shadow), once the barley in Jerusalem is abib (which is a state of maturity,
Here is where it can get confusing: If the New Moon (first sliver of the moon visible from Jerusalem) is expected but not sighted (due to weather), and is again not visible the next day, the very next day after that is declared as New Moon because there are never more than two days where the moon sliver is not visible. We are instructed by YHWH to look for the New Moon so we can know that it is the first day of the month (or first day of the new year) according to YHWH's calendar.
To be honest, bringing the family out to an area where the western sky is fully visible to look for the first sliver of the New Moon is actually fun. You can search and search then suddenly it appears. This is called sighting the New Moon.
Even the Jews have their own rabbinic man-made calendar called Hallell II and most Jews still follow it today, which causes them to miss the correct appointed times (Feast Days) according to YHWH’s calendar.
