Greek Vs Hebrew
Why Greek vs. Hebrew?
Because the English language is based on the Greek language and thus the mindset of those who use it (Americans/us) have a Greek mindset.
Why is that important?
The scriptures were written mostly in Hebrew almost entirely by men who spoke Hebrew. To understand the thought behind many of the scriptures, it is necessary to understand the thought processes. You don’t have to learn the Hebrew language, just the Hebrew mindset.
Greek is a “thinking” mindset - Faith – Love - : “I love you Jesus” Love and faith are abstract (non-tangible) things. Greek mindset is about abstract things
Hebrew is a “doing” language – Faith without works is dead - Jesus (Yeshua) said “If you love me, keep (do) my commandments” How do you show you have faith? By stepping out (doing) in faith. How do you show love? By your actions (by what you do).
Greek is thinking is linear like evolution.
Hebrew thinking is cyclical (cycles). Like just about all life, the moon and solar system, the seasons, a woman’s cycle, even history itself. Have you ever heard the term “History repeats itself”? It does. Thematic connections and chiastic structures are an example of history repeating itself in the bible. Ecclesiastes 3:15 15 That which is has been already and that which will be has already been, for God seeks what has passed by.
What language we start out with is the language we end with
Zephaniah 3:9
9For then will I turn to the people a pure language, that they may all call upon the name of the LORD, to serve him with one consent. In the Hebrew language, one of the meanings of the word "Hebrew" is "pure".
